In preparation for attending my first event as a blogger, I ordered my first set of business cards. They weren’t personalized at all, and were in fact a free promotion from a popular (if somewhat unimaginative) online paper goods supplier. But they had my info on them, and did the trick.
But then I switched from Blogger to WordPress in January, and
after two months of hair pulling angst suddenly had this pretty new custom design I slaved over designed, and my satisfaction with my discount business cards tanked. So imagine my ecstatic reaction to the news that Oubly.com wanted to send me a complimentary set of business cards that I got to tailor to match my blog!?!?
Oubly.com is an online provider of premium quality paper goods for business and home. Their beautifully designed stationary products are crafted of high quality materials, and are unique and elegant.
I received a set of Premium Edge Painted Business Cards from Oubly.com, using the Brush Strokes design. I love that I was able to tweak the colors and fonts to suit my personal style (and match my blog), and that I had the option to upload my own custom design to the back, showcasing my logo, and photos of my family. I chose the Yellow painted edge option – and dude, this is the coolest thing, because not only is it super pretty and unusual, but it makes your card 36 points thick, which is way thicker than a standard business card!! - and couldn’t be happier with how they turned out!
You can see in the photo, above, how bright and cheerful the yellow edging is, and how beautifully it coordinates with the color scheme I choose for my design.
One of my favorite things about Oubly.com is their customer service. Designing my business card was super easy, but when I got to the proofing step (where you make sure that everything is correct and without mistakes), it would only show me the side of the card with my custom design – it showed the front of the card, with all of my information, as blank. So I emailed support, and they were extremely helpful. And fast!! In less than 48 hours, they’d emailed me a new proof that was spot on based only on me telling them what it was supposed to look like. What you see in these photos is exactly how I originally designed it, and how they redesigned it for me! I call that impressive.
What’s also impressive is that Oubly.com doesn’t cut corners in any aspect of their design, material selection, and presentation. Every order ships with beautiful packaging materials included, based on the quantity and type of stationary items purchased, to store your products safely and in unique and attractive style. I was sent two different kinds of packaging with my business cards – a flip-top box with magnetic closure, and a match-box-style slider box. Both include a the Oubly.com branded logo on the lid, embossed in shimmery silver. I love that these boxes aren’t just for looks or even function, but for both, and that they’re built to last.
Another cool thing about their shipping policies (I know, I know, I keep talking about it, but only because it rocks) is that they love spoiling their clients, while being environmentally responsible at the same time. Every order ships with a pretty note that informs you that “your order was printed on USA made, FSC certified paper that was manufactured using wind power…using eco-friendly inks and [that they] recycled all extra materials.” They also include free stickers (very cute, Serenity approves) and a “thank you” coupon for your future orders, and if your order is $40 or more, you get a free gift. And how’s free shipping on orders over $69 sound? I especially enjoyed the brochure that helps you get to know the company a little better. For instance, did you know that they offer $250 in free product to eligible non-profits? I love a company that gives back.
And, because I am insatiably curious and like to complicate my life (in a good way), I requested a free materials sample packet, so I could check out some of their other products. They sent me samples of their various paper options for envelopes, etc, and I am in love with the quality presented. They also sent samples of actual invitations and announcements, and I have to say, they’re very impressive. You can see, from the photo above, that these are very nice stationary products. I wish you could feel the heft, because they’re even more impressive in person!
I’m thrilled that Oubly.com asked me to work with them on this review, because I could not be happier with my new business cards. ♥ I hope to use their services again! Maybe with one of these, someday?
